On 25 March was held the AFTV online conference that offered a variety of professional learning sessions all aimed at supporting teachers to build and increase student motivation in the French classroom.
The conference opened with a brilliant and thought-provoking interactive workshop by renown Dr Liam Printer on building intrinsic motivation. The workshop was extremely well received, and we all gained practical ideas and renewed motivation ourselves! Thank you to Dr Liam Printer for taking the time on a Sunday night at 10.45 pm Switzerland time to share his expertise with us.
This workshop was followed by 6 sessions led by highly knowledgeable educators from Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland on the topics of meeting the needs of all students, promoting confidence and connection, using digital tools to increase students’ engagement, teaching for and with Metacognition, developing intercultural skills and challenging stereotypes, and gender-just linguistic practices. Thank you to Sarah Pavy, Katerina Forrester, Erin Peter, Maud Fugier-Sola, Annabel Gassmann, Elena Pirovano and Riccardo Amorati for sharing their expertise and knowledge with the community of French teachers in Victoria.
The atmosphere in all sessions was very positive and helped make the conference a success. Participants interacted with the presenters and with each other to share their thoughts and reflection on the topic and the burning issues in the world of Language education today, all of which will certainly positively influence our future teaching practices.
