AFTV 2025 VCE PD : Y ARRIVER pas à pas

The AFTV invites new teachers of VCE (Units 1,2,3,4) and those needing a refresher,

to attend this all day professional development workshop.

Participants will be looking at the PROGRESSION expected in students' work in the 3 VCAA-prescribed outcomes, from Unit 1 to Unit 4 and, ultimately, the examination.

In short, we will be looking at each outcome and the evolution expected in SACs throughout the 2 years of VCE French, leading to the exam itself.

A second Y arriver Pas à Pas workshop will be offered on Friday 2 May 2025

Presenters

Isabelle Mangeot-Hewison

Isabelle Mangeot-Hewison has been Head of Languages and teacher of French at St Michael’s Grammar School, St Kilda, for 27 years. She is a member of the AFTV Committee (Association of French Teachers of Victoria) and has worked with diverse institutions such as the Alliance Française de Melbourne, Melbourne and Monash Universities, Pearson Publisher and the VCAA on diverse projects. Curiosity and a thirst for fun challenges inform her modus operandi. Year after year, marking School-Assessed-Coursework and preparing students for the VCE external exams remains a challenge. Isabelle even believes it can be fun!

Fiona Curnow

Fiona Curnow is Head of Languages at Lauriston Girls' School, an experienced VCE assessor, and a committee member of the AFTV. She is an avid follower of current research into 21st century learning and learning technologies. She has provided professional development to teachers on Assessing VCE Units 2 & 4, ChatGPT for French Teachers, Screencasting and Blended Learning, Game-based learning and Digital Storytelling for the AFTV, ISV, MLTAV and other associations.

This competition invites students from Year 5 to Year 8 to look into the rich culinary traditions of Francophone countries. 

To be be launched in 2025 at the beginning of Term 1, with video submissions due by the end of Term 2.
